Straight Edge

It may be defined as the straight edge approximately 3 meters in length lateral surface regularity of a road surface. This lightweight apparatus is made up of mild steel or aluminum and is equally supported at both ends producing a set height between the road surface & the beam. Any vertical irregularity is measured using incremented wedges.

The straight edge shall be rectangular in section
1000mm long (tolerance 0.2mm), 45mm high (tolerance 0.2mm), and 6mm thick (tolerance 0.2mm).
The Finishing Straightedge a nib 5mm long (tolerance 0.2mm), and 0.5mm high (tolerance +0,-0.05mm)
The working edges are the opposite thin edges on the longest lengths of the straightedge.
The straightedge and 22.5mm from each working edge of the straightedge, with a tolerance of 0.2mm.
