Boyle’s Law (Mariotte)

• The Boyle’s Law – Mariotte provides an accurate quantitative result for the pressure/volume 
        relationship of air at a constant temperature.
• A graduated cylinder with a close fitting piston is connected to a pressure gauge by a narrow 
        tube.
• Pressure inside the cylinder can be adjusted by rotating the knob connected to the piston.
• The gas tap allows the cylinder to communicate with the outside atmosphere to adjust the 
        mass of air.
• The pressure can be read from the circular dial.
